Out Of A Migraine

Only 3 more weeks of poetry;

Until one year ends,

And another begins its story;

In the darker, shorter days:

As rain falls,

And Cold rules:

Banishing Summer’s reign —

Icy fingers wriggling:

(A caress of graves) —

Reaching into secret places:

Places holding hidden history;

As Life is challenged:

Cells deliver their warnings:

Of dangers & poor Choices:

Records kept as reminders,

Held in timeless eternity;

So hearts & minds succeed,

Where ancestors fell;

Where pain shrieked a warning,

And all became a blackness:

A script without ending,

Or…any…name —

A story interrupted:

As death wiped out the record;

Leaving only:

Penetrating ice,

And throbbing temples,

Aching necks & dizzy guts —

Eyes wounded by light,

And a body: so tired —

All it wants is sleep…

In that battle of Consciousness:

Holding a Suffering:

Asking to be seen,

Wanting to be known:

That freedom might return,

And justice find its conclusion;

Not send as any punishment:

Nay!

Nor payment for transgression;

Just a calling for Completeness,

And the healing that can come,

When I’s find their history,

And Love conquers old excuses,

And…the…lies…we…tell:

Those failed attempts,

To justify the harm of forgetting:

The Greatness of our nature…
