Animal Testing is not Justifiable

Billions of dollars are put into an unreliable way of curing diseases and testing drugs. This is the way of animal testing.

Today in debate class, I was assigned the argument on the opposing side of “Is Animal Testing Justifiable?” In doing some research, I became even more convinced that it was not.

Animal testing is very unreliable. 95 percent of drugs that work on animals don’t work on humans. Procedures are also not painless. The Animal Welfare Act (AWA) allows animals to be burned, shocked, dissected, and many other painful situations. They obviously aren’t concerned for animal “welfare.”

In conclusion, animal testing is a cruel waste of time, and people should give their donations to a cause that will actually cure diseases, instead of spending it on a lost cause.
