Libraries are not just for reading

NSCC campuses hosting three days of fun and games

NSCC students will have opportunities coming up to have fun and bond with other students in the library.

NSCC and ALPA will be giving students the chance to participate in games and other various activities in their campuses library from October 22 to the 24. The games will focus on giving students the chance to unwind, kick back and enjoy time with other students.

This is the second year that these games and events have been held. 2nd Year LAT student Serena Mott says the event went very well last year and expects it to go just as good this year.

“We did the games in the library last year and the games are sponsored by the Atlantic Provinces Library Association, last year we had the second highest participation for the games they’ve ever had,” said Mott.

The LAT second year students will help volunteer and Mott says students in other programs will have the chance to organize and help set up the games.

“If you’re interested in helping out you can go speak to the main desk at the library and let them know.” Mott said.

The main focus of the games and events at the library are to show students at the campus that the library is not just a place to read books and study but a place to relax and take some of the stress off that they may have from their program.

“We want to showcase that libraries are a dynamic space where you can use the resources academically or kick back and hopefully destress a little bit,” said Mott.
