Dating sucks

If acting out is the only way to grab your attention
I must pronounce myself a failure
Because I am unworthy of attention
My heart breaks everyday I wake up and think
There is no one to call and talk to.

There is no other soul who understands
Who cares on the same level as I do
And I cannot force myself to grab your attention
Although I want to.

Time and affection is a commodity more precious than toilet paper
But the currency required to buy it is not something you can just come by
It requires so much more than trading a good or a service
And I am afraid it is a skill that I do not know how to develop
And yet remaining here feeling unloved is not more scary than
The attempt one must make to find it.

But I am still a failure,
Because I am too afraid to jump,
And thus I know I will never reach you.
