The concept of Kanban comes

KanaBan Project Management is a methodology based on Lean principles which is used to manage and manage projects. A Kanban board (also known as a Kanban system) is a visual aid, usually on a wall, that provides a high-level view of a project, such as a production line or workflow. Each item on the Kanban board has a specific “state” that indicates the stage of the project. On the board, work is presented with only one task visible. Work in process can be tracked by moving tasks from one state to another.

The concept of Kanban comes from the manufacturing field. It helps project managers to be agile in a project, to limit the size of WIP (work-in-process). Kanban was designed for manufacturing situations, but its concepts can be applied to many areas in which processes can be improved.

Kanban focuses on two things: the state of the product being worked on, and the available capacity to finish that product.
