Boosting Creativity

Excited to start materializing my goal for 2021 about boosting my creativity with couple of master piece books.

The first one is a 12-weeks course based on the ten principles (see below) mentioned on the outstanding book “The artist’s way” written by Julia Cameron.

The other book is “Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert where she talks about creative living beyond fear.

These last weeks have been challenging due to the tasks included in each chapter but also because of the 2 main components of the process: the 3 morning pages (written by hand) and the date for creativity (2 hours weekly).

All this complemented by doses of exploring walks aiming to enhance my senses and awareness of my surroundings.

I’m already half way awaking my creativity and still quite curious to see the results at the end of the journey.

The book by Liz Gilbert has been the perfect complement for this path as she somehow touches similar points about creativity and translate them into concrete examples that are teaching me powerful lessons.

Here some of them:

“Creative living: is living a life that is driven more strongly by curiosity than by fear”

“Creative living is a path for the brave. We all know that when courage dies, creativity dies with it”

“Are you considering becoming a creative person? you already are one. To even call somebody “a creative person” is almost laughably redundant; creativity is the hallmark or our species.

We have the senses for it; we have the curiosity for it; we have the opposable thumbs for it; we have the rhythm for it; we have the language and the excitement and the innate connection to divinity for it.

If you’re alive, you’re a creative person. You and I and everyone you know are descended from tens of thousands of years of makers. Decorators, tinkerers, storytellers, dancers, explorers, fiddlers, drummers, builders, growers, problem- solvers, and embellishers-these are our common ancestors”.

“The earliest evidence of recognizable human art is forty thousand years old. The earliest evidence of human agriculture, by contrast, is only ten thousand years old.”

“Your creativity is way older than you are, way older than any of us. Your very body and you very being are perfectly designed to live in collaboration with inspiration, and inspiration is still trying to find you-the same way it hunted down your ancestors.”

And here the 10 Basic Principles (by Julia Cameron)
