Parallel Lives and Distant Dreams

POETRY

A Poem

Author Photo taken by Mia Verita

Somewhere quiet
beyond the silent shore
perhaps we shuffled
the same ocean floor

Perhaps we walked
the same endless beach
towards one another
hands outreached

Each of us wandering along
the same meandering path
Some writing songs
Some writing drafts

Minds drifting
in twin solitudes
Spirits lifting
in hopeful pursuits

Feet gently sifting
the same stretch of sand
The tides always shifting
Life, not what we planned

Scattering the same shells
pondering the same queries
Lives stroll into parallels,
an ongoing series
seeking the same answers
longing for the same space
reaching for the same life
straining the sands of time

Footprints rinsed away
from life-long quests
separate but the same
pursuing the same rest

Tracks swept aside
by new paradigms
of changing hearts
and evolving minds

Perhaps we’ve all faced
the same scenic view
beneath the same sky
of changing hues

Staring into the same night
facing the same darkness
seeing the same light
seeking the same catharsis

Our lives delicately merge
into the same remote stream
Our hearts on the verge
of the same distant dream
